Lisboa Story Centre is an interactive space that takes visitors through the history of Lisbon. The journey through time employs state-of-the-art technology to feature some of the most relevant events in the city’s past in a fun and captivating way.
An engaging museum, the Lisboa Story Centre holds displays, moving pictures, and animations that recount the city's 2500+ years of history. The municipal hall, originally constructed in the 18th century, has been completely renovated to serve as the museum. The great earthquake of 1755, the Era of Discoveries, the city's golden age in the 18th century, and the post-earthquake restoration are all covered in the permanent display. There's also a VR area where people can get a first-person perspective on the city's past. This is a fantastic approach to becoming acquainted with Lisbon's rich cultural heritage and historical evolution. Rua Augusta Arch Located on the bustling Praça do Comércio plaza, the Rua Augusta Arch is a must-see landmark in the Portuguese capital. Reconstructing the city after the devastating earthquake of 1755 inspired its development in the nineteenth century. The triumphal Arch, forming a magnificent entryway to the city, represents Lisbon’s resilience and the efforts made to recover from the calamity it saw. Featuring a statue of the goddess of triumph, winged figures, and reliefs showing episodes from the restoration of Lisbon, the Rua Augusta Arch is constructed in a neoclassical style. Walk through the arch and look out over Praça do Comércio and the city below. The location is ideal for capturing stunning images of the city and river.
The Lisboa Story Centre "transports" visitors on a thrilling journey through history. The Centre, which is located between the Baixa Pombalina and the Terreiro do Paço, explores the myths and realities of this ancient city while putting on stunning recreations of some of Lisbon's most important historical moments. In response to the myriad events and facts that have shaped the city, the cutting-edge Lisboa Story Centre is dedicated to the history of the Portuguese. You can explore the attraction with a multilingual audio guide available in Portuguese (adult and kids versions), English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Russian, Mandarin, and Japanese. With six public areas and cutting-edge technology, it was created as an interactive visitor attraction and is located on the East side of the freshly restored Terreiro do Paço.
