Rua Augusta Arch
Located on the bustling Praça do Comércio plaza, the Rua Augusta Arch is a must-see landmark in the Portuguese capital. Reconstructing the city after the devastating earthquake of 1755 inspired its development in the nineteenth century. The triumphal Arch, forming a magnificent entryway to the city, represents Lisbon’s resilience and the efforts made to recover from the calamity it saw. Featuring a statue of the goddess of triumph, winged figures, and reliefs showing episodes from the restoration of Lisbon, the Rua Augusta Arch is constructed in a neoclassical style. Walk through the arch and look out over Praça do Comércio and the city below. The location is ideal for capturing stunning images of the city and river.
