New Years in the Philippines | New Year (January 1, 2023), Lunar New Year (January 22, 2023)

A  joyous New Year’s celebration awaits you, so prepare your ears for a loud start to kick off the New Year. Dance to the music of the Philippines’ New Year’s Eve countdown together with your party horns.

There is no limit to celebrating the New Year in the Philippines. What’s even more amusing? Whatever location you choose, the day will be full of exciting activities.

On the other hand, the Lunar New Year is also a public Philippines holiday made possible by past president Benigno S. Aquino III’s Proclamation. The Chinese and Filipino relationship spans many years, and the Lunar New Year represents the Filipinos’ respect for the large Chinese community.

Non or half-Chinese Filipinos mark the Chinese New Year by greeting one another or posting on social media. Some also celebrate by attending Chinese gatherings or eating Chinese foods.

Tourist attractions open celebrations hours before the New Year. Typically, they entertain event attendees with music performances, local celebrity appearances, and fireworks displays, making these places excellent Philippines holiday destinations.

SUBIC DESTINATIONS

Subic Yacht Rental

Suppose you’re seeking a pleasant time in the sun or a nearby destination for a sea adventure. In that case, one of the significant places to go and do is to rent a yacht and enjoy the scenic view while eating your meal. Visitors usually wear white clothes to look aesthetic and picture-ready anywhere.

The waves are usually calm, protecting the boats and yachts from potential damage caused by natural causes while docked. Subic Bay Yacht Club’s expansive land and sea area have boats of all sizes.

On the contrary, try Inflatable Island if you prefer moving water activities. Its website says, “It is a giant floating playground with almost 4,200 square meters. The island is the size of eight basketball courts placed side by side. It has inflatable slides, towers, bridges, human launchers, swings, and more!” You can bounce and jiggle your way around the entire course. There is also a lounge area, swimming pool, and restaurant to relax after your inflatable island experience!

Tip: Some water activities are not for the faint of hearts. Make sure you are ready for an unforgettable Inflatable experience. (I can still remember flying up high in the sky when I tried one of the activities there!)

MANILA DESTINATIONS

Bonifacio Global City (BGC) is one of Manila’s busiest business locations, including shops, restaurants, parks, condominiums, bars, and more. Venice Grand Canal, located in the McKinley Hill of Taguig City, is a mall with an Italian-influenced architectural design inspired by the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy. Moreover, it was named the Best Retail Architectural Design at the Philippine Property Awards in 2017 and is considered the “most romantic mall” in the country.

The mall’s centerpiece is the artificial Grand Canal, providing visitors with an authentic Italian experience with gondola rides led by singing gondoliers. It also has broad food restaurants, such as Italian eateries Ponte Amore and Toni and Sergio—also international options like Tim Hortons and Mitsuyado Sei-Men.

Binondo is a popular holiday destination for tourists during the Lunar New Year. They go there to see dragon dances and fireworks, eat Chinese cuisine, shop for Chinese merchandise, and try tikoy.

You can fill yourself with freshly-made Chinese treats. This district has entire culinary tours dedicated to it and some must-visit places.

Tip: Walking around Binondo is preferable to driving because most eateries and must-eat spots are easily accessible. Also, parking in Binondo is complex, and the streets are narrow. You can read more about Binondo and the other best things to do in Manila.
