Welcome to the world’s first museum, the Empire Roman Museum, or Capitoline Museums! Founded in 1471 when Pope Sixtus IV donated important ancient bronzes, this museum is perched on Capitoline Hill and showcases a rich collection of art and artifacts that tell the story of Rome's history. In 1734, Pope Clement XII made a large collection of artwork and ancient sculptures permanently available to the public. As you enter, you'll encounter the famous she-wolf sculpture of Rome's founders, Romulus and Remus, along with many other items that reveal the story of ancient Rome. You can choose between a drect entry ticket, a standard entry or one that includes a happy hour (1 aperitif) with views in the heart of the city.
