Shanghai Natural History Museum: Top Rated Tours & Tickets

Across the 15 tour options we compare on booking platforms, prices typically fall between $17 and $108, with a median cost of $34. While you can find entry-level tickets around $10, more comprehensive guided experiences or private tours can reach up to $433. We recommend checking the specific inclusions, as the wider spread often reflects whether a guide or skip-the-line access is included.

Most visitors spend between 2.5 and 6.2 hours exploring the exhibits, with a median duration of about 3 hours. The exact time depends on the format you choose; self-guided options allow you to move at your own pace, while structured guided tours often follow a set itinerary that may last closer to the upper end of that range.

The majority of the options we compare are Museum Tours (93% of listings), but the level of guidance varies. About one-third of the tours are explicitly tagged as Guided Tours, meaning they include a human guide. Another 27% are marked as Self-Guided, which often includes an audio guide or app-based navigation. Only 27% of all options list a guide as a common inclusion, so if a personal guide is important to you, look for those specific tags.

You can find tours offered in 5 languages: English, Chinese, French, Zh-Hant (Traditional Chinese), and Spanish. Since the museum is a major local attraction, Mandarin-language options are plentiful, but English-speaking guides are available across several of the top-rated listings we track.

It depends on what you want from the visit. A basic entry ticket gets you into the building, but our data shows that 87% of the tours we compare already include the Entry Ticket. Adding a guide (found in 27% of options) provides context on the Nature and Cultural themes that make up the bulk of the collection. If you are interested in the educational aspects (tagged in 27% of tours), a guided option adds significant value over a standalone ticket.

Yes, though they are not the majority. About 27% of the options we compare are tagged as Family-Friendly, making them suitable for visitors with children. Additionally, a small handful (13%) are tagged as Eco-Friendly. Keep in mind that these platform tags indicate general suitability rather than strict certifications, but they are useful filters if you are planning a trip with kids or prioritizing sustainable travel.

Flexibility is limited on this page compared to other attractions. Only 2 of the 15 options (13%) offer Free Cancellation, and similarly, only 2 options (13%) provide Instant Confirmation. Because these flexible slots are rare, we advise booking early if you need the ability to change plans or want immediate confirmation without waiting for manual approval.
