Best Shanghai Bus Tours & Routes

The options we compare across booking platforms generally fall between $13 and $87, with a median price of $54. While the typical spread can reach up to $285 for specialized private experiences, you will find that most standard sightseeing tours sit comfortably within that lower band. For travellers looking for value, the "Bus Tour" category averages $53 while maintaining a strong rating of 4.13★, making it one of the most cost-effective ways to see the city.

Most tours last between 3.1 and 8 hours, with a median duration of roughly 7.5 hours. This suggests that the majority of options are designed as half-day or full-day experiences rather than quick hop-on-hop-off rides. If you have limited time, look for listings that specify shorter durations, though be aware that only a small fraction of the 17 options we compare fit into a brief itinerary.

Booking ahead is highly recommended because availability varies by platform. Roughly 53% of the options we compare (9 out of 17) offer instant confirmation, which means you can secure your spot immediately online. However, about 41% (7 out of 17) also allow free cancellation, giving you flexibility if your plans change. Since popular cultural sightseeing slots can fill up, securing a reservation via an OTA like Viator or GetYourGuide is the safest approach.

Accessibility information is not consistently tagged across all 17 options we compare, so you cannot assume every bus tour is accessible. We recommend filtering your search on booking platforms for specific accessibility tags before purchasing. Regarding families, the cultural and historical themes of most tours make them suitable for older children, but the long duration (median 7.5 hours) may be tiring for very young kids. Always check the detailed description for age recommendations or stroller policies.

Guided commentary is offered in 8 languages: English, Russian, German, Korean, Japanese, French, Spanish, and Chinese. This wide selection ensures that non-English speakers have plenty of choices. Note that while 47% of options include a guide, the remaining tours may be self-guided or audio-only, so verify the language support specifically listed for your chosen ticket.

Inclusions vary significantly depending on whether you choose a basic sightseeing pass or a premium guided experience. The most common inclusions are:

• Entry Tickets: Included in 65% of options.
• A Guide: Provided in 47% of options.
• Transport: Included in 88% of options (mostly by bus).
• Hotel Pickup: Available in only 12% of options.

If hotel pickup is important to you, you will need to filter carefully, as it is not standard across the majority of tours.
