Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine and Sake Tasting Tour
A guided tour of the Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine and a visit to a sake brewery complete with sake tasting will introduce you to some of the gems that Kyoto has to offer.
Learn about the History and Traditions of Sake Brewing
Saunter through bustling streets to arrive at the Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum to discover sake brewing traditions in Fushimi. Nestled beside the willow-lined Horikawa River, the 20th-century wooden buildings of a brewery house the museum. Explore the displays of preserved brewing equipment used since 1909, like sake barrels, fermentation tanks, and old sake bottles. Soak in the fragrance of steaming rice, and enjoy the fresh and rich flavors of different kinds of sake.
Explore the photogenic Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine
Continue to the vibrant Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, an important Shinto Shrine of Kyoto and the head shrine of about 40,000 Inari sub-shrines. The Fushimi Inari is famous for its 5,000 bright orange torii gates behind the shrine's main grounds. The rows of gates line a hiking trail into the wooded forest of Mount Inari, and you might also be able to spot fox statues scattered across the shrine.
