What is El Gouna Exactly?
If this is the first time you have heard about a place in Egypt called El Gouna, know it’s not your fault. It is safe to say that it is a fairly new place. But what kind of place is it? Some say it is a resort, but now people, especially Egyptians, refer to it as a town.
It was developed by a company owned by Egyptian billionaire Samih Sawiris. So yes, he is the founder of El Gouna. He is also still alive, which shows that the town isn’t old. So, in 1989, Sawiris considered building a place like El Gouna, and the rest is history. Fun fact: he wanted to build a place for his family and friends, and El Gouna was the answer. Now, it is a home for more than 12,000 people.
When we mention “famous tourist destinations in Egypt,” you might think of Hurghada. So you would be surprised to know that El Gouna is located 25 kilometers north of Hurghada; that’s not far at all. Now that you know what El Gouna is, we must tell you why it matters.

Why You Should Visit El Gouna
Like any place we discuss, we must tell you why we recommend it. The good thing is that we won’t find it difficult to find pros about El Gouna. It’s much harder to think of the cons that tell you something. Now, why do we recommend visiting El Gouna?
It would be a new experience to witness an almost European town in the middle of Egypt. Don’t worry; you can still easily see how it is an Egyptian town. Besides being an Egyptian town, which is a great reason to visit it, there are many other reasons.
For example, you will have a wide range of entertainment options to the point where you want to try everything. El Gouna has a golf course, parks, hotels, a university, schools, an airport, and more. So it is a town, but it is also a unique one. What makes it even more lovable is that you would always feel safe with no harassers. If you are still not convinced you should visit El Gouna, wait until you hear this. WiFi is everywhere, and the town is eco-friendly and pet-friendly. Say goodbye to “pets are not allowed” signs. However, our absolute favorite reason to visit El Gouna is the restaurants. This is why we will tell you everything you need about the best 20 restaurants there.

Zia Amelia
Our first suggestion is impossible to dislike because who wouldn’t want to try Italian food in El Gouna, Egypt? Get ready to experience Italian cuisine like you never did before at Zia Amelia, one of El Gouna’s best restaurants. Their food makes you feel like you are eating a homemade dish, but it is still restaurant-worthy. This homey atmosphere is emphasized by the owner passing by each table and making small chats. A delicious meal with a great conversation? I would love that, to be honest.
Another thing that will make you love Zia Amelia is the kind staff and how helpful they are; they know their menu. Some dishes you will enjoy include all the Italian cuisine classics like pizzas and homemade pasta. So you can enjoy all the food there whether indoors or outdoors. It will taste amazing anywhere you sit. Don’t forget to try their espresso because, as we have been told, it is to die for! This is just the beginning of our list of the best restaurants in El Gouna. Puddleduck Bar & Restaurant
Our next restaurant is your go-to place to try English and International cuisine. This will be Puddleduck Bar & Restaurant, which an English family owns; this explains their English cuisine. I don’t know about you, but I love family-owned restaurants because these are where you will feel at home. El Gouna is already like a home to anyone who visits it once, and after trying Puddleduck Bar & Restaurant, you would agree with me!
Not only are the owners kind, but the service is also outstanding. Great service and great food are a combination we all need to try when we visit Puddleduck Bar & Restaurant in El Gouna. The Snack Shack
If you were in El Gouna and wanted a quick snack at a good place, then The Snack Shack is your destination! The Snack Shack’s food is something you can eat quickly while still enjoying the time you have on hand. They serve diverse dishes like waffles, chicken, pasta, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and more. We should also mention that their drinks section is as good as the food section. They offer cocktails, wine, and beer, and everyone who tried them only had good things to say. You probably already guessed from their name that they only have an outdoor area; the more air, the better.
Besides the food, The Snack Shack’s service is very satisfying, and the staff is professional. If you were staying at El Gouna and felt like staying at your hotel, you would be glad that The Snack Shack delivers. Also, they covered you if you had some work to do and needed a place to eat and work. The Snack Shack offers free WiFi, and trust me, that’s rare. Many restaurants and cafes started charging customers for the WiFi service. Since The Snack Shack does the opposite, you can see why we love them!

Malu’s Deli
If you want to be seen as a local in El Gouna then you should frequent Malu’s Deli. It’s so good that people consider it one of El Gouna’s hidden gems. I mean, if a place is overseeing Gouna Marina then it is a gem! If you are a swimmer and always have difficulty finding a place to head to after eating, look no more. Not only does Malu’s Deli overlook the Marina, but it is also very close to several beaches. So you can have fun swimming and then have more fun eating.
We know any restaurant should have good staff, but unfortunately, many ignore this and hire anyone. However, you won’t have any problem with Malu’s Deli’s staff since they are some of the most professional teams in El Gouna. The management is also very kind, so if any problem happens for whatever reason, they will have your back.
Another thing we love about Malu’s Deli is its décor, which makes the atmosphere just perfect. So they have a cozy atmosphere, good décor, and a great staff. Could it get any better? It certainly can. Malu’s Deli praises itself for its customer care since it pays a lot of attention to little details; this makes all the difference. For example, during summer, you will find that the tables are located in the North of the restaurant; they do that to provide customers with enough shade. While in winter, they move the tables to the South, where you will be safe from the cold and enjoy the soft sun.
Now you are in for a treat when it comes to the food. Malu’s Deli’s food is simply out of this world, yet their prices are very fair. You pay a good amount for great quality. They mostly serve healthy food, but they have meat as well. They say that their menu includes International, vegetarian, and vegan dishes. Malu’s Deli also has soups, salads, breakfast, beef sandwiches, turkey, chicken, pork, fish, and more. Our tip? Try their salads. You won’t regret trying Malu’s Deli once you have tasted their food!

Le Garage Gourmet Burger
If you love something called burgers, like me, then this next restaurant is where you need to go when you are in El Gouna. Le Garage Gourmet Burger is one of El Gouna’s best burger restaurants; it is the most famous, too. Like Malu’s Deli, Le Garage Gourmet Burger overlooks Gouna Mariana too. Therefore, the view there is another reason to love it!
One can never have too many burgers, and Le Garage Gourmet Burger knows that! Their menu has different kinds of burgers, like beef burgers, chicken burgers, fish burgers, and more! So you won’t find it difficult to pick something you want to try. And if you are vegetarian, don’t worry because Le Garage Gourmet Burger also cares for its vegetarian customers. They also serve pretty good veggie burgers. They have soups, salads, wine, desserts, and more besides burgers. So now you can enjoy all of this at Le Garage Gourmet Burger while you watch the marina!

Chuchichäschtli – Swiss House
Finding a one-of-a-kind restaurant in any town you visit always feels nice. El Gouna has that type of restaurant. I’m talking about Chuchichäschtli – Swiss House. Complicated name, right? So we can call it Swiss House, the only Swiss restaurant in El Gouna. Pretty unique!
What makes the Swiss House special are many reasons, starting with their lively décor, representing the Swiss countryside; we love places that make us feel like we traveled across the globe when we didn’t move. Like most of El Gouna’s restaurants, Swiss House has an outdoor area, which we recommend.
Now let’s talk about our favorite thing: the food. It’s probably obvious that Chuchichäschtli – Swiss House would mainly serve Swiss cuisine, and you guessed correctly! They offer different kinds of food like soups, salads, fondue, main dishes, desserts, and drinks like wine and beer. If you love Christmas, you will love Swiss House even more when you know that they decorate the restaurant each year for Christmas. One last tip is that if you go on Christmas, get ready to witness a restaurant filled with people. This is how good it is!

Moods Restaurant & Beach Club
There is nothing better than a place that is two-in-one. I’m talking about Moods in El Gouna, a restaurant and beach club. Its full name reflects that since it is Moods Restaurant & Beach Club. We recommend this spot because of the amazing view while trying Moods dishes. With seeing the sea and port, your mood will be ten times better when interacting with the friendly staff there.
Not only does Moods Restaurant & Beach Club have a great atmosphere, but they have a lot of space. So whether you are going with your family or a large group of friends, you will find enough seats for everyone; make sure to go early. Jobo’s Restaurant and Sports Bar
El Gouna itself is unique, so it is only fair that it has many unique places. Our next restaurant is Jobo’s Restaurant and Sports Bar, the only sports bar in El Gouna. Now, that’s a smart move by the owners. Jobo’s Restaurant and Sports Bar have been around since 2001, and the fact that it remains successful proves to you that it offers good food quality.
When you hear the word “sports,” you would probably only think of football, but as a sports bar, Jobo’s Restaurant and Sports Bar has access to more than football. You can ask them to watch any live game in any sport, and they would have it; this is how considerate they are. I like that they don’t just focus on football and ignore everyone else.
If you aren’t a sports lover, you would still be entertained since they host live entertainment where bands and musicians perform. Could it be more perfect? It could. Now to what we all would like to know: the food. The food there includes soups, appetizers, burgers, pizza, beer, wine, and many more. You should try their signature plank steak; you won’t regret it. Just make sure to pick your order according to what you are doing. So, if you are watching a match, it is time for some snacks, and Jobo’s Restaurant and Sports Bar has them!

White Elephant Thai Restaurant
When I say that visiting El Gouna’s restaurants is like visiting the whole world, I mean it. If you didn’t find a place that serves food you like, let me tell you that you will find it because El Gouna has everything! Our next restaurant is a Thai one called White Elephant Thai Restaurant. So even Thai food lovers have a place to go to.
Now, White Elephant Thai Restaurant is not a normal Thai restaurant. It is owned by a Thai family, which makes you rest assured that you will taste real Thai food made with care! Another reason to go there is their décor. I can assure you that if you aren’t a fan of modern décor, then you would enjoy White Elephant Thai Restaurant and its calming décor.
When it comes to the food, you will have the chance to try Thai food in the heart of El Gouna, Egypt, which is a unique experience in itself. El Sayadin Restaurant
Here is a suggestion for all the seafood lovers out there. If you have been dreaming of enjoying a fish meal on the shore of the Red Sea in Egypt, then your dreams will come true. A restaurant that can offer you such an experience is El Sayadin Restaurant in El Gouna, with its amazing seafood. If you think the word “El Sayadin” is weird, that is only because it is Arabic. When you translate it, it means the fishermen. I don’t know about you, but El Sayadin Restaurant sounds much better than the fishermen’s restaurant.
Aside from the name, El Sayadin Restaurant offers you some of the best seafood and oriental dishes in El Gouna; we know what we recommend! So you can pick whatever you want, and if you aren’t a seafood fan, there are still other options. They are so good that they are located within a resort called Mövenpick El Gouna. Therefore, the only social media accounts related to El Sayadin Restaurant are those owned by Mövenpick.

HYDRA Seafood Restaurant
Our next suggestion for the best restaurants in El Gouna is also a seafood restaurant. We must consider different tastes! Therefore, let’s talk about HYDRA Seafood Restaurant, which many see as the best seafood restaurant in El Gouna. Of course, you could choose your favorite one or love them all equally. In both cases, we get to enjoy amazing food.
While all the food at HYDRA Seafood Restaurant tastes amazing, people especially like their mussels and calamari. That doesn’t deny the fact that they did justice to Mediterranean cuisine! Another pro about HYDRA Seafood Restaurant is its patient staff, who is always ready to help. I probably won’t need help since I would be busy eating. You can choose any dish since they serve soups, salads, pasta, chicken, and seafood. What are you waiting for?

Did you ever dream of eating tasty food while in the middle of the sea? Luckily, our next restaurant can make your dream a reality. I’m talking about Pier 88 in El Gouna. Like every restaurant we picked for you, Pier 88 has a lot of qualities. My favorite is that the entire restaurant floats over water, but don’t worry, it doesn’t change places. Eating there will certainly feel like a dream come true!
One way to know whether a restaurant is good is its number of branches. I’m happy to tell you that Pier 88 is so good that it has more branches around Egypt because of how famous it is in El Gouna. Its popularity is even more impressive when you know it has been around for over ten years, which isn’t long considering it already has other branches.
So now you know that Pier 88 has a great location and is very successful. What you still need to hear about is their amazing food! Pier 88 is known for its international cuisine, a great mix of Italian and Mediterranean cuisines. Their menu is divided into antipasti, salads, pasta, desserts, wine, and more. To seal the deal, Pier 88’s prices are very reasonable compared to the quality. Amazing, right?

Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant
We want to consider our next recommendation a hidden gem since not many people know about it. Despite not being as popular as the previous restaurants we mentioned, Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant is one of the best restaurants in El Gouna.
With each new restaurant we mention, you can tell that El Gouna can satisfy everyone’s taste. After the different cuisines we introduced you to, Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant specializes in Vietnamese cuisine, and they are good at it! So get ready to taste Asian food like you never did before. They may be serving classic dishes, but they do that without ignoring modern techniques, giving us a combination like no other.
We already love Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant, and we didn’t even mention the great atmosphere there, especially if you choose to sit in the outdoor area. Tandoor
We may be nearing the end of our list for today, but that doesn’t mean the quality of the restaurants we picked is less. Our next restaurant is evidence of that! We have Tandoor inside one of the hotels in El Gouna called Ali Pasha Hotel.
If you remember earlier, I told you that El Gouna and its restaurants could make you visit the whole world while staying in Egypt. Well, each new restaurant we mention proves that. Here, we have Tandoor, an Indian restaurant offering a new cuisine other than those we mentioned. This difference is also seen in their décor since it is influenced by Indian culture; this makes it worth the visit even more. You can sit outdoors or indoors; both are perfect for us!
Tandoor offers soups, vegetarian dishes, kebabs, curry, desi rice, desserts, and more. Who is the best to give good advice on what food to try? Tandoor themselves! They recommend their Thai Glass Noodle Salad or Indian Pakodas. Also, you must try their signature dish, Dum Biryani Lamb, because it’s one ticket to heaven. Now you know where to head next time you are in El Gouna.

The Grill
You can’t go to Egypt, an Arabic country, without trying at least one oriental restaurant. So we can’t mention the best restaurants in El Gouna without mentioning the oriental restaurant, the Grill. At the Grill, you will taste some of the best dishes you have ever tasted.
We guarantee you you won’t be bored with the dishes they serve at the Grill. That is because they serve Egyptian, Mediterranean, and Oriental cuisine. These three are known for their rich flavors, and I firmly believe that you would have never tasted good food if you didn’t try Egyptian food.
So, what should you expect when you visit the Grill in El Gouna? Prepare to witness a diverse menu that will satisfy all your needs. They offer soups, grilled dishes, vegetarian dishes, pasta, seafood, fattah, and drinks. Sotto Sopra
Many see our next suggestion as the best Italian restaurant in El Gouna; we can’t disagree. Sotto Sopra is the restaurant that stole the hearts of many people due to their more than delicious pizzas. Another thing that makes Sotto Sopra unique is that they only have an outdoor area, so you will always sit outside. Therefore, make sure to wear warm clothes during winter!
No matter what kind of pizza you have in mind, you will find it at Sotto Sopra. It would also be the best pizza you have ever tasted; I’m not exaggerating. For example, they serve Margherita pizza, vegetarian pizza, Hawaii pizza, Norwegian pizza, and many more. At Sotto Sopra, you will also find salads, desserts, hot drinks, cocktails, sangria, wine, and more!

La Playa
Don’t you love it when a restaurant doesn’t stick to one type of food? Because we sure do! La Playa is this kind of restaurant, and they are good at being diverse. Now, before we talk about the food, there is one good reason that would convince you to visit La Playa in El Gouna. That is the fact that the restaurant has a beach right in front of it. Just imagine eating while watching the water right in front of you. Heaven. You can also go swimming while waiting for your food!
So, is there any good thing about La Playa besides the location? Yes! They have live music, and you can even request a certain song to be played. And don’t worry. They do bring people who know how to sing. Another thing that made us add La Playa to our list is that they offer good food quantities, so the prices are reasonable.
Now this is my favorite part: food! When it comes to food, La Playa won’t disappoint you. They serve soups, salads, snacks, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, pasta, risotto, seafood, curries, beer, wine, and other drinks. So you can tell that La Playa is the perfect place with the perfect food!

Barten
You couldn’t be more wrong if you thought we forgot about sushi lovers. Our next restaurant is Barten in El Gouna. Barten is famous for their sushi, ramen, and rolls. For me, many sushi restaurants in Egypt don’t care about the quality; this is why you may find many people dislike sushi. However, Barten and their food are the complete opposite!
The food was delicious, and the black décor worked out in their favor. In addition to all of this, the staff there are super helpful, making the experience perfect. Along with the kind of food we mentioned, Barten also serves robata, stir-fry, nigiri, dessert, wine, and more!

Zomba
As an Egyptian, I couldn’t just let our list for today end without recommending an Egyptian restaurant that serves Egyptian food. So I must talk about Zomba, a local Egyptian restaurant in the heart of El Gouna and Egyptians’ hearts. When you enter Zomba, you will feel like you have lived in Egypt for years. The restaurant’s décor is influenced by Egyptian culture, so it looks very local and very Egyptian; it sounds perfect!
It may be in El Gouna, which is sometimes expensive, but Zomba’s prices are mostly low. So you will enjoy good Egyptian food, talk with an excellent staff, and you won’t pay a lot. Now, this is what I would like to call a good deal.
I must say that Zomba is probably my favorite restaurant, and it probably would be one of your favorites, too! You would only need to taste their foul and falafel to fall in love with them and Egypt. Kan Zaman
Our last restaurant today is the wonderful Kan Zaman, which offers Egyptian food, saving the best for last. So, just like Zomba, they also offer foul and falafel. Yet despite both offering Egyptian food, each restaurant is unique. One of Kan Zaman’s advantages is its reasonable prices.
We must mention the differences between Kan Zaman and Zomba since both offer the same food. Kan Zaman isn’t as cheap as Zomba. It’s also a lot more elegant when it comes to décor; they have nice tables. Another reason that would make you want to try Kan Zaman is the fact that the chef is Egyptian. This means he knows what he is doing and what local ingredients he should use.
Now, regarding the food, you won’t regret any penny you will spend at Kan Zaman. You’ll get to taste their soups, Egyptian dishes, pasta, grilled dishes, sandwiches, and a wide selection of drinks. Kan Zaman will impress you just like all the restaurants that we mentioned!
