The experience is almost entirely pedestrian-based. Every single option we compare (100%) involves walking as the primary mode of transport. The activity blends an escape game format with a city tour, meaning you will be exploring Utrecht on foot while solving puzzles rather than riding in a vehicle.

We found the experience offered in six distinct languages across the platforms: Dutch, English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. This wide linguistic coverage ensures that non-Dutch speakers can fully participate in the puzzle-solving aspects without language barriers.

Private tours are the dominant format here. Out of the 21 options we compare, 17 (81%) are private tours. If you prefer a dedicated guide and the ability to set your own pace without strangers joining mid-game, a private booking is the standard choice. Group tours make up a smaller share of the inventory, offering a more social but less flexible experience.

Most sessions last between 2 and 3 hours, with the median duration being exactly 2 hours. You should plan for a solid block of time to complete the puzzles and explore the surrounding area, as rushing through the narrative elements often detracts from the fun.
