Across the options we compare, prices generally fall between $47 and $156, with a median cost of around $87. However, because there is a wide spread ranging from about $36 to over $600, the final price depends heavily on whether you choose a standard group experience or a private, multi-hour itinerary. Budget-conscious travellers can find solid options starting near the lower end of that band, while premium private experiences command the higher fees.

While many experiences are grounded in exploration on foot, transportation is included in a significant minority of the listings. Walking is the most common way to get around, featured in roughly a quarter of the options (26%). If you prefer not to walk long distances, note that car-based tours make up about 14% of the inventory, and bus options account for 6%. Most other tours require you to meet at a central location without provided transport.

You have strong multilingual support, with guides offered in eight different languages: English, Italian, Spanish, German, Romanian, Swedish, French, and Slovenian. This reflects the region's cross-border culture. When booking, be sure to select your preferred language during checkout, as availability may vary by specific tour operator and date.

Private tours are a standout feature for this activity type, representing 34% of the options we compare, which is unusually high compared to general city tours. About half of all listings (51%) offer free cancellation, making it easier to secure a private slot if your plans are flexible. Private tours often provide a more personalised pace and deeper interaction with the guide, justifying the higher price point for those seeking exclusivity.

Duration varies significantly depending on the format. You will find experiences ranging from short 1-hour tastings to full-day excursions lasting up to 7 hours. The median duration is about 3 hours, which seems to be the sweet spot for combining a proper tasting with some local sightseeing. Always check the specific itinerary details, as a 1-hour session is quite different from a half-day cultural immersion.
