  • Wheelchair accessible, Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, Service animals allowed, Public transportation options are available nearby, Transportation options are wheelchair accessible, All areas and surfaces are wheelchair accessible, Suitable for all physical fitness levels, Important: Minimum age is 18 years and, if you look like you are aged under 30, you must carry valid photo ID to prove you are aged over 18. This must be a photo driving license, a passport, a proof of age drinking UK ID card, or a military ID card. The date of birth must be visible in English. Without this proof of age, pubs can oblige you to leave their premises, Please note: although we have public liability insurance, any damage to property or accidents to persons, as result of your being intoxicated, are not covered by any PLI. This tour encourages sensible drinking. It is not just a pub crawl; while it visits an average of three pubs in three hours or more, it also introduces Oxford city and university sightseeing spots, Entrance to colleges is NOT generally included on this tour, as the colleges close at 5pm. However, you will see many of the historic colleges and city sights during the tour, PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME:, INFO FOR DRIVERS AND PARKING:, If you are driving, then please allow extra 30-60 minutes over whatever time you think it will take you to get here. Oxford is NOT car friendly and it is congested roads and hard to find parking spaces....unless you park at the sign posted 'park and rides' on edge of town on any major road into the city and hop on their buses into city centre. The park and ride buses leave every 15 or every 30 minutes and take anything from 10 min to 30 min (depending on traffic) to reach city centre. So if you are going to drive, then please assume you should be aiming to park your car about one hour before your tour starts., PUBLIC TRANSPORT:, We actually recommend instead using the much faster and reliable train services but again please aim to arrive about an hour or earlier before your tour starts as trains can be delayed and the train and coach station are about 15 minutes walk from our meeting point. There is also the coach service from London called the Oxford Tube which leaves every half hour or more but it can take much longer than its advertised 105 minute journey time. It drops you off either at High street Oxford or Gloucester Green coach station. It's quicker to ask to get off on High street near Carfax tower, then it's a 10 minutes walk to Broad street.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to the most common questions travelers ask before visiting.

Across the booking platforms we compare, most options cost $53–$214, with a median around $122. The full range spans $22–$633, so you'll find budget-friendly walking tours at the lower end and more comprehensive guided experiences at the higher end. Nearly 9 in 10 options (90%) offer free cancellation, so you can book with confidence.

Walking tours dominate the options we compare, accounting for 96% of all tours. This makes sense for a landmark that's best appreciated on foot, with guides pointing out architectural and historical details as you go. A small number of options include bikes or cars, but the vast majority are designed as guided walks through Oxford's historic streets.

Most tours (88%) come with a knowledgeable guide included, and roughly half include your entry ticket as well. Taxes and transport are less commonly bundled in, though audio guides are available on a smaller share of options. It's worth checking the listing details to confirm what's covered, especially if entry or transport matters to you.

Tours typically run 1.5 to 8 hours, with a median duration of around 2 hours. Shorter options work well if you're fitting the Bridge into a quick Oxford visit, while longer guided experiences often explore the wider college and literary heritage of the city. Duration varies depending on whether you're doing a focused walking tour or a more in-depth historical exploration.

Only a small number of options across the platforms we compare are flagged as likely to sell out, so availability is generally good. That said, 65% of options offer instant confirmation, which means you can often lock in your spot right away. Popular time slots during peak tourist season may fill faster, so booking a day or two ahead is a safe habit.

Tours are available in 8 languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, German, Chinese, and Russian. English-language options are the most abundant, but if you're travelling with a group that speaks another language, there's a good chance you'll find a guide or tour suited to your needs.

Private tours make up 58% of the options we compare, which is unusually high for a single landmark. This means you have plenty of choice if you'd prefer a guide tailored to your group rather than a larger group tour. Private options span the full price range, so you can find everything from intimate small-group experiences to premium bespoke tours, depending on your budget and preferences.

Direct trains run frequently from London Paddington to Oxford, taking about 60 minutes. Alternatively, buses are cheaper but slower at 90 minutes. Renting a car offers flexibility for exploring the Cotswolds.

Most colleges allow visitors during designated hours, typically afternoons. Some restrict access during exam periods or special events. Check individual college websites before visiting, as rules vary significantly between each one.

Visit the Ashmolean Museum for art and antiquities, Botanic Garden for riverside walks, and Christchurch Meadow for scenic views. Port Meadow offers countryside walks. The Eagle and Child pub has literary history connections worth exploring.
