Explore Southern Great Wall from Shanghai

Among the options we compare across booking platforms, prices generally fall between $299 and $720, with a median of around $418. Most standard tours cluster in the $392–$561 range. Because these are largely private experiences, the cost is often shared among your group rather than charged per person.

The vast majority are private tours. 8 out of 10 of the options we compare (80%) are tagged as private tours. This means you will likely have a dedicated guide and vehicle for your party, allowing for flexible pacing compared to large group buses.

Guides are offered in 7 languages: English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Cantonese, and German. When booking, you can select your preferred language during the reservation process to ensure clear communication throughout the visit.

These are full-day commitments. The duration typically ranges from 10.6 to 21.9 hours, with a median of about 15 hours. This wide spread accounts for different departure times, travel methods (such as bullet train vs. car), and whether the itinerary includes multiple wall sections or additional cultural sites.

Most packages are all-inclusive for convenience. Common inclusions across the options we compare include:

• A professional guide (70% of options)
• Entry tickets to the Great Wall (60% of options)
• Transport to and from Shanghai (30% of options)
• Cable car or chairlift access (30% of options)

Because many tours are private, transport costs are often bundled into the total price rather than added separately.

Reviews suggest it is highly worthwhile. With an average rating of 4.97 stars across 535 pooled reviews, travelers frequently describe the experience as "amazing," "wonderful," and "worth it." The main value comes from the logistical ease: navigating the high-speed rail from Shanghai, securing tickets, and accessing less crowded wall sections can be complex without local expertise.

Flexibility varies by provider. Only 3 of the 10 options we compare (30%) offer free cancellation. However, 5 of the 10 (50%) provide instant confirmation, which is helpful if you need to secure a spot quickly. Always check the specific terms of the listing before booking, as policies differ significantly between platforms.
