Faial da Terra & Salto do Prego Hike in Sao Miguel

Yes. Across the 8 options we compare, this is mostly a nature hike. Nature is the defining theme across all of them, and hiking is the main format for the large majority, with every option done on foot as a guided tour. If travellers are choosing this experience for scenery and a proper active outing rather than transport-heavy sightseeing, that matches the options listed across booking platforms.

Most of the tours we compare sit in the $61–$95 range, with a median price of $66. The wider spread runs from about $57 to $246, which usually means there are a few pricier versions alongside the standard options. For most travellers, the sweet spot is the lower end of that main band rather than the top of the overall range.

These tours typically run for about 3–7 hours, with a median duration of 5.2 hours across the options we compare. That makes this a solid half-day to near full-day outdoor activity rather than a quick stop, so it suits travellers who want to dedicate a meaningful chunk of the day to walking and scenery.

In the options we compare, guided tours are standard, and about half include a guide explicitly in the listing. Around a third also include hotel pickup and drop-off. Since inclusions vary by platform and operator, it is worth checking the exact listing if pickup matters, because it is common here but not universal.

Yes. A quarter of the options we compare are private tours, which is a fairly strong showing for this experience type. That gives travellers a real choice between the usual guided group-style hike and a more exclusive private version, often useful for couples, families, or anyone who prefers a more flexible pace.

Booking ahead is sensible, especially for a hike-focused experience with only a small number of options across platforms. The good news is that all 8 options we compare offer free cancellation, and all 8 also come with instant confirmation. That makes it easier to lock in a preferred date without giving up flexibility.

Overall feedback is strong. The options we compare have an average of 4.6★ across 23 combined reviews, and the analysed review sentiment is about 95% positive. The comments that come up most often are great experience, highly recommend, and very scenic, though a small minority use much harsher language, including absolutely terrible.

Renting a car is best for flexibility, buses are limited and many scenic spots are hard to reach without one.
