This reflects the private nature of most experiences rather than a basic entry ticket.

The vast majority are private charters. About 80% of the options we list are private tours, meaning your party will have the boat and guide to yourselves. The remaining few are guided group tours. This high share of private options explains why the average price is on the higher side compared to standard public excursions.

Most trips run between 4 and 6.4 hours, with a median duration of about 4 hours. This gives you enough time for a proper beach day or fishing session without committing to a full-day commitment. Always check the specific listing details, as some adventure-focused itineraries may stretch slightly longer.

The experiences focus heavily on active water sports and nature. The most common themes include:

• Fishing (the largest single activity share)
• Snorkeling
• General adventure and nature exploration

Most options come with a guide and provide necessary equipment, so you do not need to bring your own rods or masks. The combination of fishing and snorkeling makes these versatile for different interests within the same trip.

You can book tours conducted in English, Spanish, or French. Since all listed options offer multilingual support, you should be able to find a guide who speaks your preferred language easily. We recommend selecting your language preference when booking through the platform to ensure compatibility.

Booking ahead is wise because popular slots fill up, especially during peak seasons. A good news item is that flexibility is built into many options: 60% of the tours we compare offer free cancellation. Additionally, about 60% provide instant confirmation, allowing you to secure your spot quickly once you decide on an itinerary.

Book a private transfer or taxi. Public buses are cheap but slow and require transfers.

Swimming is generally safe. Always check local flags for currents before entering the water.

Use US dollars widely. Costa Rican colones work too but are less common in tourist spots.
