When comparing the 37 tour options we track across booking platforms, prices generally fall between $74 and $144, with a median price of $90. The full spread is wide, ranging from $46 to $1,225. This variance usually reflects differences in group size, vehicle access, and whether meals or entry tickets are included.

Yes. Private tours represent a significant portion of what we compare here. Specifically, 32% of the listed options (12 tours) are tagged as private experiences. These tend to be on the higher end of the price spectrum but offer more flexibility and personalized attention compared to standard group hikes.

While the vast majority of these experiences are nature-focused hiking tours (95%), you can find several distinct activity types depending on the operator. The most common additions include:

• Ziplining (found in about 14% of options)
• Adventure tours (roughly 22%)
• Bird watching excursions (around 5%)

Most guides focus on the natural landscape rather than historical sites, with only a small fraction touching on cultural or historical themes.

It depends on the specific tour you book. Only about half of the options explicitly include a guide (54%). Inclusions for supplies are less common: roughly 19% offer hotel pickup and drop-off, while only about 11% include meals or bottled water. We recommend checking the "what's included" section of your chosen listing carefully, as many basic hiking tours expect you to carry your own provisions.

The duration varies significantly based on whether the tour includes transport and additional activities like ziplining. Most tours last between 5 and 10 hours, with a median duration of 6 hours. Shorter, focused hikes exist, but full-day experiences that combine transport, multiple viewpoints, and adventure elements are quite common.

Booking ahead is advisable, especially for private tours or those requiring hotel pickup. While 35% of options offer free cancellation, providing some flexibility, popular time slots can fill up. Additionally, 32% of tours offer instant confirmation, which suggests high demand for certain operators. Given the 4.86-star average rating across 120 pooled reviews, securing a spot with a highly-rated guide early on helps ensure a quality experience.

You will have good language coverage if you speak one of the six main languages offered across these tours. Options are available in English, French, Swahili, German, Italian, and Portuguese. Since 76% of the tours are guided, you can almost always find a local expert who speaks your preferred language, though availability may vary by date.
