Use the local bus system (Capital Transit) for city travel. For outside Juneau, fly via Alaska Airlines or take the Alaska Marine Highway ferry system to reach other Southeast Alaska communities.

Pack waterproof jacket, layers, and waterproof boots. Juneau receives over 50 inches of rain annually. Bring a hat and gloves even in summer as temperatures stay cool year-round, typically 40-60 degrees Fahrenheit.

No permits needed for day hikes, but check weather conditions and avalanche forecasts beforehand. Wear proper gear and inform someone of your plans. Hire a guide for backcountry areas or if you're inexperienced with glacier travel.
