Sassi di Matera Travel Guide in Basilicata

The typical price sits around $31–$321, with a median of $162 across booking platforms. The wider spread runs about $16–$504, so there are lower-cost short options and pricier premium picks, but most travellers will be comparing tours in that main middle band.

Yes, they look like one of the strongest value picks here. It depends on how personalised you want the visit to feel. About a third of the options we compare are private tours, which is a relatively strong choice set for couples, families, or travellers who want a more tailored pace. Standard guided tours are still the more common format overall, so they usually make more sense if value matters more than exclusivity.

Inclusions vary, so it is worth checking the listing details before booking. Across the options we compare:

• Guides are included most often, appearing in many tours
• Entry tickets are included less often, so not every option bundles admission
• Instant confirmation is available on all compared options

In practical terms, these tours are more often about guided interpretation of the area than all-in admission packages.

The overall picture is positive, with an average of 4.31★ across 37 pooled reviews from booking platforms we compare. Travellers most often mention phrases like "great experience" and "I recommend it". There is one balanced caution worth noting, a small number of reviews mention "never showed up", so it is sensible to double-check meeting instructions after booking.

Ask about stairs, parking, and porter service. Many rooms have steps and cars cannot reach most entrances.
