The most common inclusions focus on comfort and access. Roughly three-quarters of the options we compare include meals, while half provide a guide and hotel pickup or drop-off. Transport is included in about 38% of listings, and entry tickets are covered in 25%. Because many operators handle logistics, it is worth checking the specific itinerary to see if your transport and meals are bundled.

Yes, private tours are a significant part of this category. About 38% of the options we compare (3 out of 8) are designated as private tours, which is an unusually high share for this type of activity. This gives travellers who prefer flexibility or small groups more choice than they might find at other destinations.

These are full-day excursions. The typical duration ranges from 10 hours to 23.5 hours, with a median time of about 10.5 hours. Given the distance to the lake from Arica, most tours require a substantial block of time, so planning your day accordingly is essential.

Guides are available in five languages: English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and French. Since the majority of options are sightseeing tours focused on nature, language availability is generally good, but it is best to confirm when booking if you have a specific preference.

Transport methods vary by operator. Cars are the most common mode of transport, used in 62% of the options we compare. Buses and minibuses account for the remaining 25% each. If you prefer a more intimate setting, look for the car-based private tours; for larger groups, bus or minibus options are available.

Booking ahead is recommended for peace of mind. While only a handful of options exist, about 75% offer instant confirmation, and half allow free cancellation. Reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with travellers frequently describing the landscapes as spectacular and beautiful. However, a small number of reviews mention experiences that felt like a waste of time, so reading recent feedback on specific operators helps ensure you pick a well-run tour.
